Alison joined us at Refine in October 2016 to cover maternity leave, where she proved to be such an asset to the team, as well as being so well liked by our patients, that Angela asked her to stay on a permanent basis to continue her role at Refine.

Alison qualified from the Eastman Dental Institute, London, in 1993 where she attained the award for clinical excellence. She moved back to the midlands area where she has worked as a dental hygienist in both NHS and Private practice, and as a tutor hygienist at Birmingham Dental Hospital.

Alison was elected chairperson of the midlands branch of British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy; a post she enjoyed for over 8 years, and was privileged to represent the society at both regional and national scientific seminars.

In 2013, she joined the UK DVI (UK Disaster Victim Identification) and undertook regular training within this multi-factorial task force to develop her skills in the field of odontology, which is an area Alison aims to pursue to study further.

Alison’s knowledge of dentistry has been expanded by recently completing a study towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Studies at the University of Central Lancashire (2016) with specific chosen emphasis on diabetes and the relationship to oral health.

To maintain up to date with current knowledge in the areas of dentistry Alison practices in, she is a member of Dental Circle, BAFO ( British Association of Forensic Dentistry) and the ADI (Association of Dental Implantology)

Out of work, Alison enjoys travel, film photography, the theatre, walking and entertaining friends and family. She has a keen interest in cricket, and for 3 years coached the junior girls Kwik cricket at her local club, during which time she was honoured to be nominated for a coaching recognition award at Derbyshire Cricket Club in 2015.
