Angela brings 37 years of comprehensive experience in dentistry, encompassing general dentistry, orthodontics, and minor oral surgery.

She began her career as a trainee Dental Nurse, subsequently earning qualifications in National Dental Radiography. With 14 years of experience in practice management, Angela achieved several diplomas that enhanced her expertise.

In 2008, Angela pursued her degree, completing an MBA in December 2011. She played a pivotal role in transforming a small practice with two surgeries into a successful enterprise with two locations and eleven surgeries.

Currently, Angela is deeply committed to the continued advancement and growth of Refine Specialist Dental Care Ltd in North Derbyshire. Her focus on excellence is reflected in her leadership of an exceptionally skilled and dedicated team, which she takes immense pride in. Angela's role involves not only overseeing the day-to-day operations of the practice but also driving strategic initiatives to enhance patient care and expand service offerings. Her dedication to professional development and high standards is evident in every aspect of the practice.

In addition to her work at Refine Specialist Dental Care Ltd, Angela is an active member of the Local Dental Committee. This membership allows her to stay at the forefront of advancements in orthodontics.

Angela also holds a Level 2 Certificate in British Sign Language.

Outside of her professional life, Angela enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband Garry and their two adult children, who are passionate about motorsport and winter sports.

Gurd is our Oral Surgery Clinical Director and has worked with us almost since the outset of the service in August 2008. Gurd helps to support the management of the services alongside Angela and Fiona. Since joining Refine Specialist Dental Care in 2008, Gurd has focused on oral surgery, bringing a wealth of knowledge and skill to his position.

Gurd qualified as a dentist from the University of Leeds in 2004 and subsequently returned to Derby, where he had completed his vocational training. He continued his professional development by gaining experience in sedation techniques and implant restorations at the same practice.

His interest in oral surgery was ignited through close work with a Specialist Oral Surgeon. In 2007, Gurd transitioned from general practice to serve as a Senior House Officer (SHO) in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham. Following his tenure there, he continued his work as an SHO in Derby and successfully obtained Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

After his time in the hospital setting, Gurd returned to primary care and has since been dedicated to his role at Refine Specialist Dental Care, where he evaluates and performs various oral surgery procedures at the Alfreton Primary Care Centre.

In addition to English, Gurdeep speaks Punjabi and Hindi.

At home he enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons.

Roya joined our practice in March 2021 and has been working as a dentist with a special interest in Oral Surgery for several years.

Having qualified as a Dental Surgeon in 2012, Roya moved to Nottingham where she completed her Vocational Training.

She then began her three year dental core training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham, where she developed an interest in oral surgery, gaining valuable skills during these years.

In addition to English Roya also speaks 3 other languages in Persian, Turkish and Azeri.

Fiona is our Orthodontic Clinical Director, supporting the management of the services alongside Angela and Gurdeep, having worked as our associate specialist since the outset of the orthodontic service in 2009.

Fiona has over 20 years of experience working with and training dentists, orthodontic therapists, orthodontic nurses and dental nurses.

Fiona graduated from Edinburgh Dental School in 1992 and, following vocational training, she worked in a variety of senior house officer posts in oral and maxillofacial surgery, restorative dentistry, children’s dentistry and orthodontics in Sheffield, Nottingham and Glasgow. She obtained her FDS from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1995.

In 1997, she commenced a three-year training programme in Orthodontics at the Chesterfield Royal Hospital and Charles Clifford Dental Hospital in Sheffield. She then completed her MMedSci at Sheffield in 1999, and Membership in Orthodontics of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2000.

Fiona enjoys several sports and in particular, spending time on the slopes with her husband Jason and daughter Aoife, enjoying winter sports, a passion of the whole family.

Greg has been working as a dentist with a special interest in oral surgery since 2016 here at Refine.

Having qualified from the University of Sheffield in 2008, Greg moved to Derbyshire, which is near where he carried out his vocational training.

Greg developed an interest in oral surgery having spent more than three years at Mansfield and Chesterfield Hospitals, as a staff grade clinician.

Greg assesses and treats people who are referred in for various oral surgery procedures here at Refine Specialist Dental Care within the Alfreton Primary Care Centre.

At home Greg likes to spend time with his young family.

Emma joined our team in 2019 as a qualified Orthodontic Therapist and has worked in dentistry since leaving school, beginning as a Dental Nurse in 2007 and moving into orthodontic therapy a short time later. Having spent all her working life in orthodontic practices, she brings her experience to us here at Refine Emma’s experience allows excellent support to our specialist led service providing the varying treatment options that we offer at Refine.  

Emma loves to spend time with her husband Derry, young family. She also likes to paint and bake in her spare time.

Jenny has worked in Dentistry for over 20 years and joined the Refine team in 2013 as a dental nurse. Constantly training, she gained qualifications in radiography, sedation and orthodontic nursing. Developing a passion for orthodontics and under the tutelage of our specialist Fiona, Jenny qualified as an Orthodontic Therapist in 2020.

As a therapist she enjoys working with nervous patients, making them feel at ease, and enjoys providing the varying types of orthodontic treatment that we offer, particularly enjoying seeing the final result when braces are removed to see patients with their new smile and how happy they are

Outside of work, Jenny is busy with her family who enjoy tennis, and skiing.

Nicola has worked in dentistry since 1995, beginning in general dentistry where she developed her skills and additional qualifications to enhance her role as Registered Dental Nurse, and has been with us since the outset of the services in 2008.

Nicola now leads the nursing team at Refine and assists with training and development, as well as supporting Angela with the management of requirements within dentistry around policies and procedures and maintenance as an ongoing process to maintain the high standards that we work to as a team.

At home, Nicola enjoys spending time with her partner Dean and two boys and enjoys warm sunny holidays with her family and friends.

Niamh joined our team in autumn of 2022 as part of our administrative team and receptionists. It became apparent very quickly that she was the best person to lead reception procedures and support other members of the team whilst they work on our reception and so becoming our Senior Receptionist within 8 months of her working with us, having built skills from previous experience.

Niamh is a complete animal lover and has two cats (her babies) and enjoys her weekends with them at home. She also enjoys time and holidays with her partner Callum.
