Gurd is our Oral Surgery Clinical Director and has worked with us almost since the outset of the service
in August 2008. Gurd helps to support the management of the services alongside Angela and Fiona.
Gurd has been working as a dentist with a special interest in oral surgery for six years here at Refine.
Having qualified from the University of Leeds in 2004, Gurd moved back to Derby, which is near where
he carried out his vocational training. Having stayed on at the same practice, Gurd underwent
training in sedation techniques and implant restorations.
Gurd’s interest in oral surgery developed when he began working closely with a Specialist Oral
Surgeon, and, in 2007, he left general practice to work at the Queen’s Medical Centre as a Senior
House Officer (SHO) in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Following Nottingham, Gurd spent time as an
SHO in Derby. It was during this time that he passed his exam to become a Member of the
Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Having spent time working in the hospital environment, Gurd moved back into primary care and
his current role. He now assesses and treats people who are referred in for various oral surgery
procedures here at Refine Specialist Dental Care within the Alfreton Primary Care Centre.
In addition to English, Gurdeep speaks Punjabi and Hindi.
